On 23 April 2005 members of the Afghanistan War Veteran Club of Alytus planted an oak grove, called the "Tear of Kabul". The grove was planted near the Church of the Holy Virgin Mary's Christian Aid in Likiškiai Park and dedicated to the Lithuanians who died in the Afghanistan war. In total, there are 98 trees, one oak for each brother in arms that has not returned home. Near the park, there is the monument "In memory of the 96 Lithuanians, who died in Afghanistan". Another oak was planted for Sergeant Arūnas Jarmalavičius, who died during an attack on the mission camp for the restoration of the province of Ghōr in 2008.
