Old Jewish cemetery of Miroslavas

Burial places

Before World War II, most of the city's inhabitants were Jews. Most of them were engaged in trade. The Jewish community of Miroslav had its cemetery near the city. However, due to historical upheavals during the war, many Jews from Miroslav were shot and buried in the Vidzgiris forest in Alytus.
Currently, stone, granite and concrete tombstones of various shapes with memorial inscriptions in the Hebrew alphabet have been preserved in the cemetery (about 70 tombstones have been preserved on the territory). At the entrance, on a rectangular concrete pedestal, there is a black polished granite slab with a Star of David engraved at the top and inscriptions in Hebrew and Lithuanian at the bottom: “PASSENGER, REMEMBER THE JEWS FROM MIROSLAV WHO STAYED HERE.
