Exhibitions

After traveling around the small cultural capitals of Lithuania and visiting Kupiškis, Ignalina, Jonava and Širvintis, the exhibition "Sodų sakmės" will stay in the Alytus Cultural Center, where it will be exhibited from August 2. until September 30

"Sodų sakmės" is an exhibition organized by the Vilnius Ethnic Culture Center, representing one of the most beautiful types of Lithuanian folk art - straw gardens, whose tradition of tying is aimed at being included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The goal of the organizers of the exhibition is not only to show the beauty, sacredness, diligence and creativity of the tyers, but also to inspire and encourage more people to touch the tradition of tying gardens. After all, in the recent past, gardens hung in almost every house: they were tied for Christmas, Easter, expecting a child or marrying a daughter.

The exhibition features over 60 gardens, the authors of which are gardeners from all over Lithuania.

Visiting hours of the exhibition:
• II-F 10 a.m.-6 p.m. (lunch break at 13:00-14:00);
• 1 hour before each event.
